ATM Garibaldi

The restyling project of Garibaldi Station not only gives a strong value to the aesthetical characteristics of the structure but it also tries to promote an ecologically sustainable design approach. The philosophy of the project is focused on the social value of architecture, on the attention towards people using public spaces so it starts from the respect for the environment and provides the employment of natural elements and lighting systems characterized by a low energy consumption. In the green forms, for example, it is expected to put a vegetation (Tillandsia Usneoides) able to monitor the pollution and absorb dust laden with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Furthermore, in collaboration with Zanotta Company, leader of the Italian and international design, it was designed a seating system on beam which provides a structure made of recycled aluminium and a seat on "Chylon" that is a material composed of wooden scraps and recycled plastics. The restyling project plans to optimize the relationship between user and space by creating a new "wrap" that turns an anonymous and grey area in a colourful and vibrant space able to react and create points of interaction among people. This wrap stimulates the senses through the visual attraction, the involvement, the chromotherapy, and contributes to the improvement of comfort sensation.
