The bold and innovative spirit of a municipality joins the creativity of Filippo Cannata in an unique project that recalls the Toyland of Collodian memory.
In Modica, this Christmas school children are going to invent and design the illuminations, exceeding the approval of the artistic lighting. Bright profiles and images produced by the imagination of kids, projected on the facades of the Baroque palaces, will adorn the streets of the Sicilian city turning it into a place of joy where anything is possible.
The project, called "In the groove of tradition" will be managed by the network of the educational agencies that share the aim of rediscovering and transmit to future generations the sense of their roots; it will involve, in addition to children, older kids and parents who will collaborate with the laboratories.

Cannata, together with the supervisor Marcella Fragapane, met about two hundred teachers representing the vast majority of schools.
"We have to pass the approval of the artistic lighting," he explained, "and share the meaning that the lights of Christmas have here in Modica, in this latitude and longitude, how it can not be anywhere else in the world. We have to incite children with the value of what belongs to the identity of the context in which they live. And then let them free to draw: the children are the only ones who can express the creativity that is precluded to the imagination of adults, prisoners of a thousand influences."
The intention is also to transform the lighting in some neighborhoods in a real instrument of regional marketing, as taught by the experience of Turin and Lyon, whose look redesigned for Christmas was able to attract millions of tourists. Enchantment, wonder, enthusiasm, excitement. A combination of emotions for those who will cross the renovated city center, it will be like taking a journey back in the dreams of the past, to find the lost treasures and restart to hope for a better world.
