The Department of Urban Design and Planning (DPUU) of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II created the course " Light Innovative Design in buildings and urban spaces" (Building and Urban Innovative Lighting Design ).

The course, that will be starting on 1st of March 2013 and will take place at the DPUU in Via Toledo 402 on every Friday from 9.00 to 13.30 and from 14.30 to 18.00, up to June the 28th, aims to provide the necessary skills to arrive at a wise configuration of the light, whether natural or artificial, within the architectural design understood in its broadest sense: from the building to the urban space.

Put in the foreground there is our territory with its peculiarities, therefore the light of the Mediterranean in its explosion of colors amplified by the reflection of the sea, which "demands its particular artificial complement " and requires a specific design approach, different from what can be reserved to the cold northern light. Build consists of two workshops, the first one will have the lighting project of via Duomo in Naples as its theme, while the second one will focus on the lighting plan of the City of Pietrelcina and is supported by major companies such as Philips, Artemis, Flos, Fontana Arte, Erco and many others.

Among the professors of the faculty, Filippo Cannata will put its experience at the service of those who want to discover how lighting designers use the light, what its role is in the representation of the architecture and how lighting can help saving energy.

An interesting initiative, which aims to hand down the expression and emotion values, to promote and spread the culture of light.
