The PIDA Association in collaboration with the Ischia Global Film Festival, the Order of Architects of Naples, the Foundation Luchino Visconti, the Municipality of Forio d’Ischia, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Naples “Federico II”, and the Superintendence for the architecture of Naples, organized a design workshop that provides for the functional rehabilitation of what was once the summer residence of the master film director Luchino Visconti.

Today the villa houses the museum of the artistic life told by a photographic exhibition of his work spread across the three levels of the main building. A screening room and a literary café complete the services within the home. Outside a large garden with a natural amphitheater used for performances surrounds the villa, the guest house (used for office with ticket office), and the stone beneath which the director chose to bury his ashes and those of her sister Uberta.

Through the different use of existing spaces and the recovery of some volumes which were covered in the previous restoration work, the workshop, led by the Austrian group of architects "feld72", involves the implementation of new features to add to the existing ones such as virtual museum bookshop, film library, an amphitheater equipped with a stage, new paths and stories in the park surrounding the villa. The approach will be interdisciplinary and in the days form 14 to 19 July will see the participation of directors, set designers, bioarchitects, museography and construction experts, landscape architects, representatives of the City and the Foundation. Filippo Cannata will inaugurate the workshop together with the set designers Oscar-winnings Francesca Lo Schiavo and Dante Ferretti.
